Pre Teen information

What is a pre teen?

Pre Teens, also known as 'tweens,' are children typically between the ages of 9 and 12, just before they become teenagers. This stage is characterized by significant physical, emotional, and social changes as children begin to develop more independence and form their own identities. Pre Teens often start middle school, experience early puberty, and show increased interest in friendships and extracurricular activities. It's an important developmental period where guidance and support from adults are crucial.

What are some common challenges faced by pre-teen program coordinators, and how can they be addressed?

Pre-Teen Program Coordinators often face challenges such as engaging diverse groups of pre-teens, managing behavioral issues, and balancing fun activities with skill-building objectives. Effective communication, flexibility, and an understanding of youth development principles are crucial in overcoming these challenges. Collaborating closely with parents, teachers, and other staff members can also help create a supportive environment and ensure that each child's needs are met.
