Job description

Rate: $24/hr

Location: Tampa, FL

Hybrid: Work on site Tue, Wed and Thur; WFH Mon and Fri

Duration: 6-12 months

40 hours/week


The Font Artist will be responsible for creating digital font files from league provided assets. Fonts will be installed into various software across different company platforms. The font artist will reside within the Made to Order (MTO) Ops Art department but will service requests from other cross-functional areas, including product content teams and jersey art team. This position is at the forefront of receiving and executing new team branding and designs into the retail marketplace. This company is a fast paced, exciting work environment where you will work with a passionate team, producing quality graphic apparel for the fans!


GENERAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Build .OTF and .TTF font files using industry standard font software
  • Create font spec sheets
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems within pre-existing font files
  • Tracking and managing font library
  • Supports and partners with internal operational art and product content teams
  • Understanding how font files are incorporated into in-house jersey automation software and web-based made-to-order customization program
  • Technical understanding of typography, combining the instincts of a designer and the skills of an engineer.
  • Comply to company’s confidentiality guidelines
  • Must maintain the aesthetic integrity of replicated fonts for our licensed partners
  • Assist Supervisor & Managers with flex assignments as needed
  • Works on a variety of assignments on an as-needed basis


EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associates degree in Graphic Design, Fine Arts or related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience that equals 3 to 5 years of experience in apparel manufacturing, Licensing or Sports related experience
  • Can provide a strong professional portfolio showcasing a wide range of skills/abilities



GENERAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Understanding fonts, typefaces, and ability to cross reference, match, and replicate.
  • Experience in FontLab or comparable font building software
  • Must have intermediate to advanced level experience with Adobe Creative Suite
  • Functional computer skills and familiarity with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Demonstrate some apparel embellishment knowledge
  • Familiarity with Pantone Matching System
  • Ability to thrive and deliver results in a fast paced, deadline driven environment
  • Works well collaboratively with a team as well as individually
  • Sports fan, a plus
  • Schedule: normal business hours M-F and must have flexibility to be on-call, and work extended hours (overtime), nights and weekends to support business needs.
