Job Description: 

Job Title: Estimator 

Department: Estimating 

Reports To: Director of Pre-con Multifamily 

Location: Work from home with occasional site visits. 

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  

Position Summary: 

The Estimator is responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates for multi-family housing developments throughout the Southeastern United States. This role focuses primarily on structural steel stairs, rails, and miscellaneous steel components required for multi-family construction projects. The Estimator collaborates closely with project managers, engineers, detailers, architects, vendors, and contractors to ensure accurate, competitive, and timely bids that support project success and division growth. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Review and analyze project plans, drawings, and specifications for multi-family housing developments. 

  • Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for structural steel stairs, rails, and miscellaneous steel products. 

  • Utilize Bluebeam, Tekla EPM, and Microsoft Office Suite to develop, organize, and manage estimates. 

  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers/detailers, and architects to define project scope and clarify requirements. 

  • Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes, ensuring competitive pricing and adherence to quality standards. 

  • Identify potential cost efficiencies and value-engineering opportunities. 

  • Maintain organized documentation of all estimates, bids, and supporting data. 

  • Develop and maintain relationships with contractors, developers, and vendors in the multi-family construction market. 

  • Support the Multi-Family Division’s growth by providing accurate, timely estimates that align with project and client expectations. 

Qualifications: 

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in construction estimating, preferably within the structural or miscellaneous steel industry. 

  • Experience with multi-family housing projects strongly preferred. 

  • Proficiency in Bluebeam, Tekla EPM, and Microsoft Office Suite. 

  • Strong understanding of construction management principles, building codes, materials, and cost-control practices. 

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, specifications, and contract documents. 

  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and communication abilities. 

  • Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously. 

Working Conditions: 

  • Standard office environment with collaboration between estimating, project management, detailing, and operations teams. 

  • Full-time, location-flexible position 

  • Regular business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
