Position Overview
Vantage Data Centers is seeking a Director of Construction to provide overall leadership for construction execution at our upcoming Port Washington, WI site. This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of data center delivery from pre-construction through commissioning, while managing internal project teams, third-party partners, and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget.
The Director of Construction serves as a senior leader across multiple projects, driving alignment with corporate strategy, operational sustainability, and customer commitments. This role partners closely with Sales, Development & Engineering, Operations, and Finance to translate business requirements into optimized construction execution, while maintaining rigorous quality, cost, and schedule controls.
This position is based on-site in Port Washington, WI.
Essential Job Functions
Construction Leadership and Project Execution:
  • Lead all assigned aspects of construction delivery, including master planning, pre-construction, design coordination, permitting and entitlements, competitive bidding, team selection, construction, commissioning, and project closeout.
  • Drive day-to-day construction decisions to resolution while ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and project requirements.
  • Manage assigned development projects from concept through commissioning and prepare monthly and quarterly project reporting.
Financial and Commercial Management:
  • Create and manage project budgets and establish monthly forecasts, including variance analysis.
  • Review and validate monthly contractor billing, ensuring substantiation and alignment with approved budgets.
  • Support RFP development and management for capital projects and customer builds.
  • Partner with the Director, Construction Cost & Finance to produce project forecasts and manage execution of MSAs and project authorizations.
Team and Resource Management:
  • Manage direct reports and third-party project management resources, including staffing plans and utilization tracking.
  • Own resource allocation and project workflow for internal teams and contingent project management resources.
  • Confirm QA/QC work products from direct reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with requirements.
Quality, Risk, and Continuous Improvement:
  • Ensure construction execution complies with Basis of Design (BOD), specifications, codes, leases, and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage delivery of work products from internal teams and external partners to ensure compliant, high-quality data center facilities.
  • Ensure lessons learned are captured and incorporated into feedback loops to drive continuous improvement.
Cross-Functional and Stakeholder Collaboration:
  • Act as a thought leader and drive coordination and integration of internal stakeholders across assigned scopes.
  • Support Sales in customer engagement, translating lease and client requirements into executable construction delivery.
  • Work closely with Operations to coordinate design criteria and construction activities alongside ongoing maintenance and operation of existing facilities.
  • Ensure project teams comply with turnover documentation requirements for Operations.
Additional Duties:
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by Management.

Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 7-10 years of experience in a construction management leadership role required; 10-15 years preferred.
  • Experience delivering complex, highly technical construction projects required.
  • Data center construction experience strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience managing both CSA (civil, structural, architectural) and MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) construction scopes required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management tools such as MS Project or Primavera P6.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Travel is expected to be approximately 15-30% and may increase as business needs evolve.
