Mercyโ€™s Laboratory Department primary mission is to transform health and healing by providing high quality, cost-effective, accurate and innovative laboratory services in order to help in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. We are seeking a Pre-Analytical Systems Supervisor to join our dynamic team.


Requirements
  • Requirements at this level consists of a bachelor's degree in medical technology or a chemical, physical, biological science or related field is required, plus 5 years of experience performing diagnostic laboratory testing. Preferably 2 years of laboratory leadership experience.
  • Diagnostic laboratory testing must include specific experience working as technologist within a high complexity laboratory setting with experience managing multiple technical and non-technical areas including clinical specialties/subspecialties such as hematology, clinical chemistry, bacteriology and immunology, urinalysis, coagulation, phlebotomy and specimen processing. Knowledge in phlebotomy and specimen processing operations is a plus.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with situations where only limited standardization may exist. Must be able to reasonably make appropriate judgments in communications and actions with patients, physicians, other associates, outside agencies and vendors.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication skills in written and spoken format. Able to listen to constructive criticism and be a good example on how to improve professionally within the context of laboratory operations. Promote direct, open, and honest communication within areas of responsibility; develop and maintain strong and effective relationships with medical and staff personnel.
  • Experience articulating a vision and strategy in a way that inspires and motivates the laboratory team and focuses their energy on achieving departmental goals. Possess a passion for and commitment to a patient-centered care and customer-driven culture.
  • Experience with Laboratory Information System. Familiarity with EPIC Beaker is a plus.
    Certification by one of the following accreditation agencies: MT (ASCP), or categorical MLS (ASCP), MT (HEW), MT (HHS), MT (AMT), MT (NCA), MT (AAB).
  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Medium): 20-50 lbs; 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); 11-25 lbs, 34-66% of the workday (frequently); 01-10 lbs, 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Lifting 50 lbs max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs; Occasional to frequent standing & walking, Occasional sitting, Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.

Salary Information
Compensation decisions are made in alignment with internal equity, role scope, and market data to ensure fair and consistent pay practices. Most new hires are typically placed within the lower to mid-portion of the range; offers above that level are reserved for candidates with advanced or highly specialized qualifications.
