NOTICE OF POSITION OPENING - MIDDLE SCHOOL PRINCIPAL (Grades 6-8)
Eden Prairie Schools is seeking an exceptional leader to serve as Central Middle School Principal. We are looking for a collaborative, student-centered educator who understands the unique developmental needs of middle school learners and is passionate about creating a culture where students feel connected, challenged, supported, and inspired to grow.
This position requires a strong instructional leader who can build meaningful relationships with students, staff, and families while leading a high-performing school focused on academic excellence, belonging, and student wellbeing. The successful candidate will foster a positive and inclusive school culture, support staff growth and development, use data to drive continuous improvement, and lead with empathy, visibility, and clear communication.
Our middle schools play a critical role in helping students navigate the transition from childhood to adolescence while preparing them for future success academically, socially, and emotionally. Eden Prairie Schools serves approximately 9,000 students in one of Minnesota's most innovative and high-performing school districts. Position Requirements







  • Current Minnesota K-12 Principal License, or ability to obtain by start date.
  • Master's degree required; Specialist or Doctoral degree in Educational Leadership or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experience required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of successful educational leadership experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting middle level learners, staff development, and school improvement efforts.
  • Experience leading or supporting diverse learners and inclusive educational practices preferred.


Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral needs of middle school students.
  • Proven ability to build and sustain a positive, student-centered school culture focused on belonging, engagement, safety, and high expectations.
  • Demonstrated instructional leadership skills, including knowledge of curriculum, assessment, intervention systems, MTSS, and continuous improvement practices.
  • Experience using student data to improve instructional practices, student outcomes, and school-wide decision-making.
  • Proven ability to develop, coach, supervise, and evaluate staff to support professional growth and organizational effectiveness.
  • Skilled communicator who builds strong relationships with students, staff, families, and community members through trust, visibility, and responsiveness.
  • Ability to lead collaborative teams, manage complex situations, and navigate change with professionalism and empathy.
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, restorative practices, and ensuring all students have access to meaningful learning opportunities and support systems.
  • Strong organizational and operational leadership skills, including scheduling, budgeting, supervision, safety planning, and resource management.
  • Experience leveraging technology and data systems to improve communication, efficiency, and student support.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically while effectively managing the day-to-day operations of a middle school.
