Your expertise in context, meaning, and conversational structure is vital for refining algorithms that interpret human language more accurately. What are pragmatics?

Pragmatics is a branch of linguistics that studies how context influences the interpretation of meaning in communication. It focuses on how people understand and produce language in social situations, taking into account factors like the speaker's intent, the relationship between speakers, and cultural norms. Pragmatics examines aspects such as implicature, deixis, speech acts, and conversational maxims, helping us understand how meaning is constructed beyond the literal words used.
