Your Purpose as the Employment Practices Manager (HR Manager):The Employment Practices Manager (HR Manager) plays a vital role in providing leadership with directing, developing, implementing, and executing complex HR/Employee Relations functions relative to applicable policies, procedures, and laws.


In Your Role:

  • Build strong relationships with General Managers, Store Leaders, and employees at all levels.
  • Formally respond to sensitive concerns and allegations by conducting internal investigations into allegations of misconduct, poor performance, and violations of the Company’s internal policies.
  • Develop leaders’ abilities in relation to performance management and employment-related policies and procedures.
  • Provide training on various employment-related topics to develop leaders’ employment law knowledge and ensure adherence to compliance policies.
  • Ensure compliance to all employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Manage all leave of absence processes including FMLA, ADA, Short- and Long-Term Disability, and Worker’s Compensation in assigned geographical locations.
  • Manage unemployment claim process for assigned geographical locations.
  • Maintain and expand a trusting, collaborative work environment for all employees to help advocate employee satisfaction and execute results on business objectives.
  • Review pre-employment screening results and escalations and provide guidance to Talent Acquisition team.
  • Manage worker authorization process to ensure proper documentation is received and maintained.
  • Ensure any employment-related reporting (e.g., EEO1 reporting, etc.) is completed timely and accurately.
  • Engage with legal counsel on employment-related topics as necessary.
  • Lead and/or participate on project teams centered around effective employment-related policies, procedures, and programs to deliver great business outcomes and employee experiences.
  • Lead and/or participate in RFP process for new employment-related tools, training, and vendor partners.
  • In partnership with the benefits team, assist with coordinating and communicating employment-related topics to leaders.
  • Participate in broader HR projects and initiatives.

Requirements:

Basic Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of complex employee relations experience with emphasis on conflict resolution and investigations
  • Knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations, including, but not limited to EEO, FMLA, ADA, FLSA, Worker’s Compensation
  • Ability to travel to assigned store locations located across Nebraska, Kansas, Colorado, and Wisconsin
  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent
  • Must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid driver’s license to operate a motor vehicle

Additional Qualifications:

  • PHR and/or SPHR certification is a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Management, or related field preferred
  • Demonstrated experience with constructive conflict management, resolution, and analysis
  • Working knowledge of all Employee Relations laws and investigation claims at all levels of the company
  • Ability to use sound judgment and decision-making
  • Strong collaboration and communication capabilities
  • Able to develop and effectively maintain partnerships internally and externally
  • Adaptable and able to learn new and changing technologies and processes
  • Excellent time management, detail orientation, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
