Job description

The Corporate and Commercial Development group is a core strategic function within Targa Resources Corp. (NYSE: TRGP), responsible for advancing the company's long-term vision and positioning it as the premier midstream infrastructure company. The group plays a central role in identifying, evaluating, and executing opportunities that drive sustainable, profitable growth across the enterprise. This includes leading the origination and execution of mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures, with a focus on transactions that enhance Targa's asset portfolio, geographic footprint, and competitive positioning.

 In addition to M&A, the group is instrumental in developing and managing strategic partnerships and joint ventures that align with Targa's commercial objectives and create long-term value. It also evaluates and prioritizes organic investment opportunities, ensuring capital is allocated to projects that meet rigorous strategic and financial criteria. Beyond transactional work, the Corporate and Commercial Development team collaborates closely with internal stakeholders across executive, commercial, financial, and operational functions to support cross-functional initiatives and enterprise-wide strategic planning.

 Operating at the intersection of strategy, finance, and commercial execution, the Corporate and Commercial Development team is a key driver of Targa's continued growth and success in a dynamic and evolving energy landscape.

 JOB FUNCTIONS AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Primarily responsible for financial modeling for potential transactions (including mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, organic growth opportunities, joint ventures, capital markets and commodity hedging), industry research, competitive analysis and financial statement analysis

  • Assist in the execution of transactions by interfacing with senior management, investment banks, attorneys, consultants and other resources

  • Coordinate the due diligence process for potential transactions

  • Assist in transition after closing of strategic transactions

  • Development of executive management presentations including those given to Board of Directors

  • Provide executive management with industry research and valuation analysis related to relevant transactions

  • Aid in development of responses to customer requests for proposals

  • Assist business units with financial modeling and negotiation of commercial contracts

  • Perform scenario modeling for infrastructure optimization and expansion

  • Train and provide guidance to junior team members

  • Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree

  • 4+ years of experience via investment banking, management consulting, private equity or industry

  • Demonstrated quantitative skills with proficiency developing financial models and analyzing financial statements

  • Exposure to M&A transactions

  • Developed project management skills

  • Strong business acumen and keen interest in the energy industry

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • High level of professionalism, maturity and attention to detail

  • Self-starter with ability to handle multiple projects and meet strict deadlines

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint

  • Regular and reliable attendance

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Engineering or other relevant discipline

  • Experience in the energy industry, preferably with midstream and upstream exposure
