Position summary

The Business Development (BD) Coordinator supports the overall marketing and BD efforts and activities of the Corporate BD team, collaborating with team members to coordinate implementation of key BD and marketing initiatives for the Corporate Department, its practices, and its attorneys. This position supports the Private Equity, Mergers & Acquisitions and Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation BD teams, contributing to its administration and coordinating its operations across the firm's Corporate Department.

Position responsibilities

Proposals/Marketing Collateral/Attorney Biographies:

  • Data: Collect and maintain data used in proposals and marketing collateral, as requested.
  • Marketing Collateral: Updates to marketing collateral, including updating quotes from publications, headcounts, other metrics, rankings, and other accolades, among other things. Help to coordinate routine collateral update process across entire team.
  • Attorney Bios: Prepare initial drafts of attorney biographies for new associates and lateral partners hires. Conduct routine audit of bios to assure that they are error-free, comply with the firm's written style guide, align with clients' Outside Counsel Guidelines re use of client name/matter details, and follow the rules of professional responsibility for lawyers. Support development and maintenance of specialty bios that focus on specific areas of substantive legal practice and industries, among other things. Update bios when new rankings and/or accolades are published, including updating of quotes and data used in such materials, and/or when attorneys have thought leadership to add or other changes are needed (e.g., involvement in boards, committees, new internal titles, speaking engagements, etc.).

Lateral Recruiting & Integration:

  • Coordinate with external publications and ranking organizations to update records as to new laterals; input new laterals' experience into experience system and to marketing collateral, as appropriate.
  • Track lateral integration activity, as requested.

Directories & Rankings:

  • Assist with production of ranking and directory submissions, including referee lists.
  • Liaise with BD colleagues and other firm departments to collect information needed for the completion of ranking and directory submissions.

Marketing & Operations:

  • Handle logistics and other administrative tasks related to newsletters, blogs, briefings, including populating template with attorney-produced content and sending to Graphics and CRM teams for formatting and distribution.
  • Handle logistics and other administrative tasks related to client CLEs, seminars, webinars, events, speaking engagements, and sponsorships, including executing deliverables such as responding to requests for biographies, photos, and logos; making IT and A/V arrangements; working with venues; and assisting with branded items and production of event-related materials and delivery of same.
  • Actively participate in ongoing maintenance of the firm's experience system, including reviewing pitch or RFP response materials and inputting revised or new content into experience system.
  • Track pitch and proposal activity in Nexl and through corporate department's project tracker regularly.
  • Assist with project organization and management, including tracking status of team-wide projects. Conduct basic research and assist with other special projects, as requested. Process check requests, invoices, and expense reports.

Markets/Offices:

  • Support market/office activities as requested, including attending virtual and in-person events hosted in and/or outside the local Winston office and/or non-local events.

Experience, skills, and qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 2+ years of business development, sales, marketing, education, business operations, or writing experience preferably in a law firm or a professional services firm required.
  • Must live within a commutable distance to the applicable firm office with the ability to come into the office 3-4 days per week.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and familiar with CRM/database systems.
  • Operational Excellence: Strong organizational and project management skills; ability to meet deadlines, adapt to changing priorities, and work efficiently and effectively.
  • Self-Management: Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines; proactive, confident attitude and approach; demonstrates strong time management and prioritization skills.
  • Problem Solving & Critical Thinking: Creative and resourceful problem-solving abilities, including the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to analyze information and identify solutions.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong interpersonal skills; and the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with colleagues, clients, and other stakeholders.

Salary

Illinois based applicants only: The target annual salary range for this role is currently $72,000 - $90,000 based on a regular, full-time schedule. The amount of compensation offered will be determined by several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications, market data and internal equity. Total compensation includes a comprehensive healthcare benefits package, yearly retirement contribution, and may include an annual discretionary merit bonus.
Los Angeles based applicants only: The target annual salary range for this role is currently $75,000 - $95,000 based on a regular, full-time schedule. The amount of compensation offered will be determined by several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications, market data and internal equity. Total compensation includes a comprehensive healthcare benefits package, yearly retirement contribution, and may include an annual discretionary merit bonus.
New York based applicants only: The target annual salary range for this role is currently $78,000 - $100,000 based on a regular, full-time schedule. The amount of compensation offered will be determined by several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications, market data and internal equity. Total compensation includes a comprehensive healthcare benefits package, yearly retirement contribution, and may include an annual discretionary merit bonus.
San Francisco based applicants only: The target annual salary range for this role is currently $85,000 - $108,000 based on a regular, full-time schedule. The amount of compensation offered will be determined by several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications, market data and internal equity. Total compensation includes a comprehensive healthcare benefits package, yearly retirement contribution, and may include an annual discretionary merit bonus.
