What is a Practical Technologist in Radiology?

A Practical Technologist in Radiology (PTR) is a healthcare professional trained to perform basic radiographic (X-ray) procedures under the supervision of a licensed radiologist or radiologic technologist. PTRs are typically responsible for operating X-ray equipment, positioning patients, and ensuring images meet diagnostic quality standards. Their training is less extensive than that of a registered radiologic technologist, and their scope of practice may be limited depending on state regulations.
