  • The Training and Development Specialist supports the planning, coordination, and delivery of HR educational programs to ensure employees meet organizational learning and clinical competency standards. Serves as a key clinical resource for preceptors, new hires, unit staff, educators, students, and interdisciplinary departments across the hospital. Partners closely with Nursing leadership, Human Resources, and operational teams to ensure effective onboarding, maintain a supportive learning environment, and develop professional internships. Oversees general, clinical, nursing, and ancillary orientation programs while coordinating nursing student placements and compliance requirements. Supports performance improvement, survey readiness, and evidence based practice initiatives. Maintains accurate licensure and certification records for clinical contract staff. Demonstrates strong customer service, applies adult learning principles, and promotes the hospital's mission and professional image through collaborative, high quality educational services.

    Position Responsibilities
    • Serves as a clinical resource to preceptors, orientees, unit staff, educators, and students.
    • Serves as consultant to staff in other nursing units and departments.
    • Design, plan, coordinate, and evaluate formal education programs for clinical areas based on staff, hospital needs, and age specific criteria.
    • Participates in Performance Improvement and Research programs.
    • Serves as a key resource to promote positive image of the hospital, both internally and externally.
    • Maximizes area's impact through collaboration with clinical unit Directors and education liaisons to facilitate efficient educational resources.
    • Assist with the organization, coordination, and supervision of the delivery of HR educational services; ensures that learning needs are identified and clinical competencies are met.
    • Collaborates with the Human Resources / Operational Management team to maintain positive atmosphere for new employees and to develop professional internships.
    • Ensures new employees are oriented and trained in compliance with system-wide competency assessment program.
    • Assist with continuously assessing and improving the performance of educational services provided and coordinates the presentation of educational activities to meet standards of accreditation and licensing agencies.
    • Incorporates the principles of adult education in practice and evaluates the application of learning in the clinical setting.
    • Coordinates the presentation of biweekly general orientation, clinical orientation, nursing orientation and ancillary staff orientation.
    • Assists with the coordination of Nursing students, immunization forms, assignment badges, orientation process, exit evaluations upon completion of rotation.
    • Provides assistance to Human Resources Management as required and participates and completes special projects
    • Exemplifies excellent customer relations on all facets and is responsible for service excellence within assigned areas of responsibility.
    • Assist in reviewing data and records on each contract employee; maintains files of Hospital Verifications for Clinical contract employees for licensure and certifications.

    • Qualifications
      License/Registration/Certification
      RN Preferred
      Education
      Bachelor's Degree in related field. Rn or BSN is preferred.
      Experience
      Minimum 2 years' experience within the field. Knowledge in adult learning and development principles.
      Experience in engaging adult learners in the classroom and virtual setting.
      Experience as CPR Instructor or AVADE Instructor preferred
      Experience with presenting at Nursing Orientation preferred
      Experience with Performance Improvement, creating action plans and have knowledge of survey readiness preferred
