Job description

Public Relations Specialist - Journeyman
Level: Journeyman  |  Work Location: On-Site – Arlington, VA
⚠ This position is contingent upon contract award.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Red Carrot is seeking a Journeyman Public Relations Specialist to support the customer's External Affairs office. This is a high-visibility role supporting strategic communications, media relations, conference planning, and stakeholder engagement on behalf of one of the nation's most critical federal agencies.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop media engagement strategies for campaigns, announcements, and events including identifying target media outlets and reporters
  • Produce media clips and ad hoc analysis of print and online coverage to assess the effectiveness of customer outreach
  • Prepare media kits, releases, fact sheets, and responses to media inquiries
  • Support strategic communications planning for product rollouts and customer campaigns
  • Draft communication materials including talking points, social media content, web content, and leave-behind materials
  • Support conference and event planning including pre-event logistics, staffing plans, and after-action reports
  • Develop weekly and monthly media analysis reports
  • Facilitate stakeholder engagement and partnership outreach in support of customer campaigns
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • BS/BA in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of demonstrated experience planning PR campaigns and working with client and project team members
  • Federal government communications experience strongly preferred
  • Must live in the local area; may be required to come into the Arlington, VA office as determined by leadership
  • Ability to obtain a DHS Fitness Determination
