Position Summary
The UNC Institute for Global Health and Infectious Diseases (IGHID) is recruiting an exceptional candidate for a postdoctoral research fellowship to analyze microbiological assays in vitro and in animal models. 
The post-doctoral fellow will work with the laboratory PI, research specialists, and other trainees to design, implement, and analyze microbiological assays in vitro and in animal models. The postdoctoral research associate will conduct research independently and interpret microbiological and immunological assays in cell culture and animal model systems.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Ph.D. or equivalent.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Experience in a BSL-2 lab or handling infectious agents.
Bench laboratory skills in molecular methods (including preparation and measurements of samples).
Analysis of laboratory-generated data using customary laboratory software (Excel, Prism).
Experience with grant and manuscript writing.
Special Physical/Mental Requirements
Must possess flexibility, mobility, and strength to store and access research samples, reagents, and supplies. Needs to have the physical ability to perform many varied tasks; i.e. fine motor skills, excellent hand-eye coordination, and a high level of concentration to do challenging techniques.
