DescriptionJob Summary

Compiles, analyzes and submits for reimbursement data from the Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility Patient Assessment Instrument (IRF-PAI) and the Continuity Assessment Record and Evaluation Data Set (LTACH CARE Tool). Provides updates and continuing staff education on the Prospective Payment System, acting as liaison for the Billing Office, Care Management, Coders/HIMS, and Inpatient Rehab/LTAC staff to promote optimal resource utilization and facilitate referrals. Practice will be in accordance with laws and regulations and will adhere to established policies, procedures, and practice guidelines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Enters and transmits IRF-PAI data to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid.
  • Collects and analyzes statistical data and assists with maximizing reimbursement.
  • Enters and transmits CARE Tool data to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid.
  • Acts as liaison between the Billing Office, Case Managers, Coders/HIMS and the Inpatient Rehab/LTAC staff to promote optimal resource utilization.
  • Provides updates and continuing staff education on the Prospective Payment System.
  • Monitors, tests, and provides ongoing feedback to the Rehab Medical Director, LTAC Medical Director, and the program evaluation team.
  • Provides backup for all PPS activities if the Director is unavailable, as needed.
  • Participates in continuous quality improvement teams and activities.
  • Participates in supporting the organization's vision, mission, and values and adheres to DeKalb Medical Standards of Behavior.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of DeKalb Medical.

  • Practice will be in accordance with laws and regulations.
  • Adheres to established policies, procedures, and practice guidelines.
  • Supports the organization's vision, mission, and values.
  • Adheres to DeKalb Medical Standards of Behavior.
Additional Responsibilities

  • Supports continuous quality improvement initiatives and program evaluation efforts.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred, or LMSW, CCM or Rehab Therapist. 
  • Must have 2 years clinical experience. Post Acute care experience preferred. Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
  • Must process proven skills in communication, comprehensive patient assessment, critical thinking, and building of interpersonal relationships.
  • Proven ability to provide leadership in an interdisciplinary setting. Performs skills and competencies as defined in orientation checklist and annual departmental competency checklist if applicable.
  • Demonstrates and maintains competencies specific to patient population served.
