Job description

SCOPE OF POSITION:
As a Paint Applicator, you are responsible for applying wet paint and similar coatings to materials related to the trailer manufacturing and truck upfit process. A Paint Applicator uses a 2k paint mixing machine and gun flush boxes to complete their projects. Cranes are used to lift products for underside painting.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Responsible for identifying and moving of all finished products to the proper location within the shop operating a forklift, overhead hoists/cranes, or power lift trucks if trained.
  • Ensures all equipment is in good repair, properly set up, and used in a safe manner and that all safety devices are in use, including mandatory PPE.
  • Ability to immediately recognize and report quality issues to your supervisor.
  • Able to learn how to read and understand simple blueprints.
  • Tag and identify all finished products.
  • Perform simple booth maintenance and equipment repair as required.
  • Has mastered all required skills from prior level to advance.
  • Maintain standard level of coating finish to comply with PPG warranty program.
  • Clean paint gun using a gun cleaning kit.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
  • Prior paint experience a plus
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50lbs without assistance in a variety of motions.
  • Able to us a variety of tools and equipment.
  • Ability to understand and operate all safety equipment in the area.
  • Ability to work effectively with a partner or in a small group.
  • Knowledge of basic mathematics.
