Job Title: Power System Engineer/
Job Location: Irvine, CA

Position Summary
The Transmission & Distribution Department is seeking a Power System Engineer with knowledge of power system analysis, software simulation, and modern engineering application development. This role combines power engineering expertise with software skills to support ETAP software testing, customer support, training, engineering services, and the development of next-generation engineering and AI-enabled applications within the ETAP platform.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Execute established and develop new test cases per ETAP QA and development requirements.
  • Support ETAP software development activities including software research, design, testing, validation, troubleshooting, and feature enhancement initiatives.
  • Develop and enhance engineering software tools, automation utilities, visualization dashboards, reporting utilities, and data-driven workflows.
  • Utilize engineering application software to perform power system modeling, analysis, and design for transmission, distribution, industrial, renewable energy, and/or railway systems.
  • Provide customer support and technical issue resolution via email and phone.
  • Instruct ETAP workshops and webinars.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Strong understanding of power system engineering fundamentals, simulation concepts, and power system analysis methodologies, including areas such as load flow, short-circuit, protection and coordination, and power system stability.
  • Proficiency in Python for automation, data processing, engineering analysis, testing, and/or application development.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with the ability to independently investigate and resolve technical issues.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively in a fast-paced engineering and software development environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for customer interaction, technical presentations, and teamwork.
  • Familiarity with SQLite databases, SQL queries, and data processing workflows is a plus.

Education
B.S., M.S. or Ph.D. in Power System Engineering or a related field.
Salary Range:
65,000.00 - 108,000.00 USD Annual
This pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation that the position offers, and final compensation can vary within the range depending on work location, job experience, skills, and relevant educational attainment and/or training.
