We are seeking a specialized Power BI Migration Engineer to lead the modernization of our legacy reporting infrastructure. In this role, you will drive the end-to-end migration of paginated reports from SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) to the cloud-based Power BI service / Microsoft Fabric platform. You will be responsible for evaluating legacy reports, redesigning data models for cloud compatibility, converting paginated outputs, and implementing modern interactive dashboards that maximize our Microsoft Fabric investment.

  • Migration Assessment: Evaluate the existing SSRS reporting catalog to catalog dependencies, identify redundancies, and plan the migration wave strategy.
  • Report Conversion: Convert legacy SSRS RDL files into Power BI Paginated Reports and rebuild standard reports into interactive Power BI dashboards.
  • Semantic Modeling: Design, build, and optimize enterprise-grade Power BI Semantic Models using DAX and Power Query (M formula language).
  • Fabric Cloud Integration: Deploy and manage report assets within the Microsoft Fabric SaaS environment, utilizing Fabric workspaces, capacities, and deployment pipelines.
  • Data Source Modernization: Transition legacy SQL queries and stored procedures into cloud-optimized data connections, leveraging Fabric Shortcuts, Lakehouses, or Data Warehouses where applicable.
  • Security & Governance: Implement cloud-based data security standards, including Row-Level Security (RLS), Object-Level Security (OLS), and Fabric RBAC configurations.
  • Gateway Management: Configure and maintain On-Premises Data Gateways to ensure secure, automated data refreshes between on-prem sources and the Fabric cloud.
  • Testing & Validation: Conduct rigorous parallel testing between SSRS and Power BI to guarantee absolute data accuracy, alignment, and formatting consistency.
