Open communication with all parties involved and staying informed about the principal’s wishes are also essential for fulfilling this role responsibly.

What is a Power of Attorney?

A Power of Attorney (POA) is a legal document that allows one person, known as the principal, to grant another person, called the agent or attorney-in-fact, the authority to act on their behalf in legal or financial matters. The POA can be limited to specific tasks or grant broad powers, depending on the needs of the principal. This document is commonly used for situations where the principal is unable to manage their affairs due to illness, absence, or incapacity. The agent is expected to act in the best interests of the principal and follow any instructions provided in the POA. It's important to choose a trustworthy individual to serve as your agent.
