Position Overview
Interstate Energy Systems is seeking a Service Advisor with power generation experience to join our team in Surprise, AZ. This role serves as the primary liaison between customers, technicians, and internal teams, coordinating service work for diesel-powered generators and related equipment. The ideal candidate brings hands-on knowledge of diesel engines and generator systems, strong customer communication skills, and experience supporting service operations in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the main point of contact for customers requiring generator and power generation service, including preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs
  • Open, manage, and close repair orders; develop and present estimates and obtain customer approvals
  • Schedule and coordinate work for field and shop technicians supporting diesel generators and related systems
  • Communicate job status updates, timelines, and findings clearly and professionally to customers
  • Collaborate closely with technicians, parts personnel, and service leadership to ensure efficient service execution
  • Review technician findings and documentation to ensure accuracy prior to billing
  • Support warranty, service agreement, and contract-related processes when applicable
  • Maintain accurate service records and documentation in company systems
  • Promote a high level of customer satisfaction through clear communication and follow-through

Required Qualifications
  • Previous experience as a Service Advisor, Service Coordinator, or similar role in a diesel, engine, or power generation service environment
  • Generator experience required, including familiarity with diesel-powered generators
  • Strong working knowledge of diesel engines (highly preferred)
  • Ability to interpret technician findings and translate them into clear customer-facing explanations
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple work orders and priorities
  • Proficiency with service management or ERP systems (experience with diesel service software is a plus)
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills

Preferred Experience
  • Prior experience supporting power generation service operations
  • Background working with diesel generators, engine-driven equipment, or industrial power systems
  • Experience coordinating field service technicians
