Position Specific Description

The Senior Power Generation Division (PGD) Engineer will serve as a technical lead and compliance program owner within PGD NERC Operations & Planning (O&P) Compliance. This position is responsible for leading assigned NERC Reliability Standard programs, with primary ownership for MOD-025 and MOD-032, while supporting broader O&P compliance execution, audit readiness, regulatory data requests, and cross-functional coordination across PGD's wind, solar, storage, and fossil generation fleet.

This role provides engineering judgment, compliance governance, and stakeholder leadership to ensure PGD maintains sustainable, repeatable, and defensible compliance practices. The Senior PGD Engineer will translate NERC requirements into executable PGD processes, coordinate technical input from subject matter experts, monitor program health, manage evidence expectations, and support timely responses to internal and external requests for information.

Key Responsibilities

Program Ownership & Governance

  • Own the overall health, execution, maintenance, and continuous improvement of assigned compliance programs, including program standards, process maps, evidence expectations, controls, metrics, and annual reviews

Technical Oversight & Engineering Leadership

  • Serve as PGD NERC O&P compliance lead for assigned MOD standards, including MOD-025 verification and reporting of generator real and reactive power capability and MOD-032 data for power system modeling and analysis.

CrossFunctional Coordination

  • Coordinate with PGD Operations, Engineering & Construction, Interconnection Services, fleet engineering, site personnel, Compliance & Ethics, and external entities to ensure compliance requirements are understood, assigned, executed, and documented.
  • Lead preparation, coordination, review, and submission support for regulatory requests for information, audit inquiries, spot checks, self-assessments, and internal data requests.
  • Provide technical review and compliance oversight for modeling data packages, generator capability documentation, reactive capability test evidence, submittal records, and related correspondence required to demonstrate compliance.

Work Management, Metrics & Reporting

  • Lead compliance execution through Maximo, including preventive maintenance strategies, service requests, work orders, and evidence tracking
  • Monitor and report program health using dashboards and lead indicators
  • Ensure complete, accurate, and auditready documentation and evidence repositories.

The Ideal Candidate Would Possess the Following: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
  • 4+ years of experience in power generation, transmission, or utility environments with direct involvement in NERC O&P compliance.
  • Demonstrated technical experience with substations, protection & control systems, generator interconnection, and power system modeling.
  • Strong understanding of NERC compliance evidence, audit expectations, and regulatory engagement.
  • Direct experience with MOD-025, MOD-032, or other NERC O&P standards such as MOD-026, MOD-027, FAC, PRC, EOP, TOP, or VAR requirements.
  • Experience with renewable generation, battery energy storage, fossil generation, hybrid resources, generator interconnection processes, or power system model data workflows.
  • Familiarity with Maximo, Power BI, Documentum, compliance dashboards, evidence repositories, service requests, preventive maintenance tasks, or similar enterprise tools.
