Arduino Programming information

What is an Arduino programming?

An Arduino Programming job involves writing and debugging code for Arduino microcontrollers to control hardware components like sensors, motors, and displays. Professionals in this role typically use C/C++ and the Arduino IDE to create automation, IoT devices, or prototypes. They may work on tasks such as designing circuits, optimizing code for efficiency, and troubleshooting hardware-software interactions. This job is common in industries like robotics, home automation, and embedded systems development.

What does an Arduino programmer do?

A typical day in Arduino Programming might include writing and testing code to control hardware devices, troubleshooting and debugging circuits, and collaborating with engineers or product designers to develop prototypes. You may also work with various sensors, actuators, and communication modules to create custom embedded systems solutions. Team meetings and documentation of your code and hardware configurations are common aspects of the workflow. This hands-on work environment requires both creative problem-solving and attention to technical details, making each project unique and rewarding.

What skills and qualifications are needed for Arduino programming?

To thrive in Arduino Programming, you need a solid grasp of embedded C/C++ programming, electronics, and microcontroller fundamentals, often supported by a degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or a related field. Experience with the Arduino IDE, circuit design software, and familiarity with sensors and actuators is highly beneficial, as are relevant certifications like Arduino Fundamentals. Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and effective collaboration and communication skills distinguish top performers. These competencies are essential for designing reliable, innovative solutions and successfully integrating hardware and software components in real-world projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their career who is passionate about electronics, mechanical systems, automation, robotics, 3D printing, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and learning how real products are designed and manufactured.

We are not looking for a traditional corporate engineer. We are looking for someone who loves building, tinkering, learning, troubleshooting, and creating things with their hands.

You will work directly with experienced engineers and manufacturing staff while learning real-world product development, automated manufacturing, circuit board assembly, test fixture development, wiring, machine integration, and mechanical prototyping.

Responsibilities

Manufacturing & Pick-and-Place Support

  • Set up JUKI pick-and-place machine jobs using established internal procedures
  • Follow step-by-step documentation to move designs from Altium into Fishbowl inventory management and JUKI software
  • Help organize and maintain manufacturing setup files
  • Support PCB assembly and manufacturing operations

Mechanical Design & Prototyping

  • Assist with mechanical design work in SolidWorks
  • Operate and maintain 3D printers
  • Prototype and test mechanical components and assemblies
  • Help improve designs through hands-on testing and iteration

Electronics, Wiring & Test Development

  • Assist with electronics testing and troubleshooting
  • Build test fixtures and prototype systems
  • Work with Arduino and Raspberry Pi systems for test automation and validation
  • Help develop simple test software and hardware setups for manufactured circuit boards
  • Perform wiring, cable routing, and machine electrical integration
  • Crimp electrical contacts and assemble cable harnesses
  • Create and update cable harness drawings and wiring documentation
  • Assist with wiring up machines, prototypes, and automated systems
  • Support engineering teams with prototype builds and testing

Qualifications

  • Strong interest in electronics, mechanical systems, robotics, automation, or manufacturing
  • Experience with Arduino, Raspberry Pi, hobby electronics, or personal projects
  • Comfortable building, troubleshooting, and learning hands-on
  • Detail-oriented and organized
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Able to follow technical documentation and processes

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with 3D printing
  • Experience using CAD software such as SolidWorks
  • Familiarity with soldering, wiring, crimping, and basic electronics assembly
  • Experience creating or working from wiring diagrams
  • Experience building cable harnesses
  • Experience with CNC machines, robotics, or automation projects
  • Understanding of mechanical assemblies and wiring
  • Experience with PCB assembly or manufacturing is a plus

What We’re Really Looking For

We are looking for someone who:

  • Builds projects at home for fun
  • Enjoys taking things apart and figuring out how they work
  • Has experimented with Arduino or Raspberry Pi projects
  • Is excited to learn from experienced engineers
  • Wants to grow into a high-level technical role over time

Passion, curiosity, and work ethic are more important to us than an expensive degree.
