Job description

Founded in 1974, Florida Engineering Services, Inc (FES) is a reputable engineering firm located in North Miami Beach with a long history of designing high-rise buildings, along with K-12 education, colleges and universities, local government, multifamily, and commercial projects. We at FES are fortunate enough to be able to look at the Miami-Fort Lauderdale skyline and identify many buildings whose MEP systems have been designed by our firm. At FES we value commitment, character, resourcefulness, and creativity.
FES currently has an opening for an Electrical Engineer Designer position to join the team at our North Miami Beach office.
The purpose of the Electrical Designer is the application of engineering fundamentals to design the building’s electrical systems. The position will use vast knowledge of the principles of physics and material sciences to help assist with the electrical design of MEP projects and the preparation of electrical construction documents under the supervision of a licensed professional engineer (PE).
MUST WORK IN OFFICE. NO REMOTE WORK. 
General Skills (Required):
• MUST have Knowledge of REVIT, BIM 360 & AutoCAD.
• Demonstrates a basic understanding of electrical building systems.
• Interest in building electrical systems and introductory familiarity with the IEEE, NFPA, and Florida Building Codes.
• Basic understanding of Microsoft Office 365 Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, OneNote).
• Ability to verbally communicate detailed and accurate instructions and information.
• Ability to hear with or without correction to receive and interpret detailed information.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Design and develop electrical systems and/or components to high specifications, focusing on cost, safety, reliability, quality, and sustainability.
• Creating electrical drawings for new projects, updating existing drawings as needed, and communicating with clients about changes.
• Performing calculations to determine voltage drop across conductors, transformer capacities, and amperage draw from electrical devices.
• Reviewing and revising design plans to ensure compliance with building codes and standards.
• Designing electrical control panels, switches, circuit breakers, fuses, junction boxes, transformers, light fixtures, power lines, outlets, and wiring systems.
• Developing electrical layouts based on the client’s specifications.

• Must demonstrate a strong desire to fulfill a career in the Building Design & Construction Industry.
• Complete tasks efficiently within the established timelines.
• Balance various projects simultaneously.
• Be receptive to mentoring from associate team members and have positive, collaborative dialogue with other disciplines in executing each project.
• Continuously seek continuing education opportunities and self-study electrical systems, attend seminars, and gain qualifying experience to qualify to sit for the PE licensure exam.
Qualifications:
• Must have a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
• At least 2-3 years of experience in Electrical Design Engineering.
• Construction Administration skills
• Must possess excellent communication skills, in both written and oral skills in the English language.
