Air Products Canada Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Air Products and Chemicals Inc., has manufacturing and distribution operations in Quebec, Ontario, and Alberta. Air Products core industrial gas business provides atmospheric and process gases serving a variety of customers in 50+ countries, including refining, chemical, gasification, metals, electronics, manufacturing, food and beverage, welding, and healthcare.

Based out of our Edmonton and Fort Saskatchewan facilities, our Operation Technicians are responsible for controlling and monitoring the process to produce hydrogen for our highly automated plants (e.g. steam systems, compressors, rotating equipment and DCS operation) as well as work alongside Maintenance and Instrument/Electrical Technicians to maintain equipment. Additional duties involved include taking field readings and performing equipment inspections.

During your summer practicum assignment, you will be exposed to many operating activities at the plant including:
- Basic Safety Training
- Water Treatment - Reverse Osmosis, Softeners and/or Ultrafiltration
- Steam Methane Reforming
- Pressure Swing Absorption
- Hydrogen Compression
- Plant Specific Process Training
- Hydrogen Plant Technology Training Program
You will receive guidance from training coordinator as well as our fulltime operations and maintenance staff. This is a 24/7 operation, and you will be working 12 hours rotating shift schedule.

Minimum Hiring Requirements:

  • Minimum 3.0 GPA in the Power Engineer Technology Program

  • Ability to work a 12-hour rotating shift schedule
