Power BI Developer (W2 Only) - Hybrid | Austin, TX

3-month contract (extension possible) | No C2C / No sponsorship

We are seeking a highly skilled Power BI Developer with deep experience in report development, dashboard design, and dimensional modeling for a hybrid engagement with our client in Austin, Texas. This is a W2-only opportunity (no Corp-to-Corp or sponsorship).

In this role, you will build end-to-end Power BI solutions-developing complex dimensional models and delivering polished, high-performing dashboards and reports that translate data into clear, actionable insights. You will collaborate cross-functionally to define requirements, improve data availability and quality, and deliver scalable visualization solutions used across the organization.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of hands-on Power BI experience, can work independently on complex initiatives with minimal oversight, and brings strong judgment, initiative, and problem-solving skills. You may also lead small projects or provide guidance to other team members as needed.

Key Responsibilities

* Design and build dimensional data models (e.g., star schema) to support enterprise reporting and analytics

* Develop and optimize Power BI dashboards and reports with strong performance and usability

* Create compelling data stories using visualization best practices and thoughtful report layout

* Partner with stakeholders to gather requirements, define KPIs, and deliver iterative reporting solutions

* Work with data and engineering teams to support/report on data sourced via ETL/ELT pipelines

* Write and troubleshoot SQL (queries, views, stored procedures) to support reporting needs

* Contribute to solution design, documentation, and delivery within an SDLC framework

* Manage multiple priorities while maintaining high quality in a dynamic environment

Required Skills & Experience

* 5+ years of hands-on Power BI development experience

* Expertise in Power BI report development, dashboard design, and dimensional modeling

* Strong ability to translate complex data into intuitive, actionable insights

* Demonstrated experience partnering with stakeholders to define requirements and deliver solutions

* Strong understanding of data storytelling, usability, and visualization best practices

* Working knowledge of data pipelines, ETL/ELT concepts, and integrating data from multiple sources

* Proficiency in SQL, including stored procedures, views, and database objects

* Experience with System Analysis & Design and the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)

* Ability to handle competing priorities and deliver high-quality work with minimal oversight

Preferred Skills

* Excellent communication, organization, and facilitation skills

* Strong analytical skills, including the ability to interpret requirements and reverse-engineer existing solutions when documentation is limited

* Experience with Power BI or comparable BI/reporting tools

* Experience using Atlassian Jira

* Prior experience or familiarity with TEA applications and programs
