Job description

Power Bi Administrator/Developer

As a Power BI Administrator/Developer, you will be responsible for a hybrid role, with a focus on both administrative and development tasks related to Power BI. Initially hired on a contract basis with the potential for permanent employment, you will play a pivotal role in managing the Power BI infrastructure, ensuring data governance, and developing insightful reports and dashboards to meet the organization's data analysis needs.

Power Bi Administration (40%):

  • Manage the Power BI infrastructure, including servers, gateways, and data sources.
  • Configure security settings, user access, and permissions within Power BI to ensure data integrity and compliance.
  • Monitor the performance of Power BI services and optimize system resources as needed.
  • Implement data governance policies to maintain data quality and security.
  • Provide technical support to Power BI users, troubleshooting issues, and resolving errors.
  • Manage Power BI licenses, including assigning licenses to users and monitoring license usage.

Power Bi Development (60%):

  • Design and develop data models in Power BI, including defining relationships, creating calculated columns, and optimizing data structures for performance.
  • Perform data cleansing, transformation, and shaping tasks using Power Query Editor to prepare data for analysis and visualization.
  • Develop interactive reports and dashboards in Power BI Desktop, incorporating visuals, filters, and interactive elements to present insights effectively.
  • Integrate data from various sources into Power BI, including databases, APIs, and files, to support analysis and reporting needs.
  • Implement advanced analytics techniques in Power BI, such as predictive modeling, clustering, and time series analysis, to uncover actionable insights.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into actionable insights in Power BI.
  • Provide training and support to Power BI users, helping them leverage the platform for data analysis and decision-making

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Proven experience in both Power BI administration and development roles.
  • Strong understanding of Power BI architecture, security model, data modeling, semantic model, and data visualization concepts.
  • Proficiency in Power BI Desktop, Power Query Editor, DAX, M language, Power Automate platform, direct query and import dataset mechanisms.
  • Experience with managing Power BI infrastructure, monitoring, automation, alerting mechanisms, configuring security settings, and providing technical support to users.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and business stakeholders.
  • Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate or Microsoft Certified: Power BI Developer Associate are a plus.
  • Knowledge of Fabric architecture and other Azure services such as ADF, One Lake is a big advantage.
  • Understanding and Experience with Microsoft Customer support process is a big advantage.
