Job description

The responsibility of this role will be to help with daily Poultry farm chores. This includes both Seven Sons' Laying hen & broiler operations. Daily flock checks, Egg Collecting, moving mobile houses, manual feeding, & moving poultry netting, are the primary duties of this position.
Measurable Areas of Effectiveness
  • Efficiency & Quality of work performed.
  • Speed and accuracy of egg collecting.
  • Ability to maintain chore routines so that poultry are always well fed & watered, & are in a comfortable environment.
  • Ability to report & adhere to your team lead or supervisor.

Endurance
  • Ability to carry 25-30 lb stacks of eggs & or feed buckets throughout the day in adverse weather conditions.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:
  • Collect all eggs that were laid by all the flocks each day. (Never leave any eggs behind).
  • Manually Feed Broiler birds in brooder up to daily or whenever feeders are empty.
  • Check and refill all guard dog waterers and feeders when needed.
  • Check Flocks feed & water to verify chickens have constant access to both.
  • If necessary check and remove any chicken mortalities in flocks each day.
  • Record individual egg totals & mortality for each flock each day into assigned spreadsheets.
  • Unload all eggs at the end of day unto appropriate dated pallets & placed into the cooler.
  • Determine & relay to Poultry team supervisor any issues or concerns pertaining to flock health, safety of team members & hens.

Expected Hours:
โ€ข 15-25hrs/weekly
โ€ข Time of day: 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM. (exact hours will vary)
โ€ข Days of the week: Mon-Fri (Sat or Sun)

Requirements & Skill Sets:
  • Ability to work with motivation in a highly versatile environment.
  • Ability to use deductive reasoning.
  • Willingness to report to a Leader.
  • Willingness to take responsibility for work performed, oversights, and areas of improvement.
  • Willingness to participate in flock removals, which take place right after sunset. (This happens 3-4 times per year. (Per agreement with Poultry Supervisor)
  • Ability to operate google spreadsheets for daily record keeping & statistics. (By mobile phone)
  • In-depth understanding of how electric fence works for entering and exiting flocks.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time effectively.
