Job description

Service Technician
Hog Slat, Inc., is seeking a Service Technician with excellent customer service skills and experience in electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems to join the team at our Newton Grove, NC location. At Hog Slat, our more than 90 retail locations serve as a major driving force to our position as an industry leader.
As a Service Technician, your primary responsibilities will include troubleshooting and repairing faulty parts & equipment in modern swine and poultry production facilities.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other functions may be assigned as business conditions change.
  • Work with Hog Slat customers to understand their repair needs
  • Give customers recommendations on the best parts & equipment available at Hog Slat with which their needs can be addressed
  • Repair/replace faulty parts & equipment in area swine and poultry facilities
  • Properly bill customers for service work hours
  • Work with the Hog Slat in-store team to manage warranty claims
  • Take advantage of training opportunities offered by Hog Slat, Inc. and by it's vendors

Skill/Knowledge Required:
The ideal candidate will have the following experience/educational background:
  • Ability to use tools associated with the repair of electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems
  • Must possess a drivers license and have a satisfactory driving record
  • Familiarity with the swine/poultry industries and the pork/poultry producers in the area
  • Knowledge of parts and equipment used in modern hog/poultry facilities
  • At least 2 years of prior experience repairing and replacing electrical and mechanical equipment
  • Prior experience working with the systems found in modern swine facilities (eg. ventilation, feeding/watering, heating...) is preferred
