Job description

POSITION DESCRIPTION: The role of the Electrician is one who installs, maintains, operates, or repairs electrical equipment.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for handling Rose Acre electrical operations and problems.
  • Responsible for researching new electrical equipment for all Rose Acre locations as needed - light overnight travel may be involved.
  • Responsible for misc. tasks bestowed upon by the immediate supervisor.
  • Must be able to lift 75 lbs. and physically be able handle strenuous situations that may require standing for long periods of time, and to climb ladders and scaffolds.
  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
  • Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.
  • Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
  • Must be able to come to work in an emergency after hours.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • High school diploma is required - some college or technical training/experience in electrical training is desired.
  • Some knowledge of the methods used to run a poultry production facility - understanding the basics involved in setting up correct electrical wiring/setting up the electrical plan in the most efficient manner possible.
  • Capable of performing misc. computer programs - such as MS Word and MS Excel -in addition to drafting/mapping software programs that allow the user to visually create a map of their plan
  • Competent and professional communication skills (i.e. written and verbal.)
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks at once - the ability to deal with stressful situations.
  • Ability to treat co-workers with respect and courtesy.
  • Ability to deal with vendors professionally.
  • Possess good decision making skills.
  • Possess a strong sense of ethics regarding business and professional matters.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Must possess the ability to work in an agricultural environment, indoors, outdoors, office, warehouse, processing, and farm production areas each varying in temperature, and other environment specific atmospheres.
  • Must be willing and able to work past the scheduled leave time to complete the job, if needed.
  • Must possess the ability to work in an open office setting.
  • Must maintain professionalism with coworkers.
