JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Food Safety Quality Assurance Lab Technician DATE: 8/2026

REPORTS TO: Food Safety Quality Assurance Lab Supervisor STATUS: Non-Exempt

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for driving improvement, efficient processes, results, and quality standards within the Company. Ensure all required documentation is maintained on file for food safety testing in accordance with federal regulations. Samples according to need for various plant projects or routine analysis.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Responsible for ensuring the proper handling of all testing samples.
  2. Proper labelling of various samples collected.
  3. Support FSQA staff as needed
  4. Support Sanitation team with swab data collection and reporting as needed
  5. Conducting titrations, performing pH measurements, moisture, fat, protein, calcium, bone fragment, TDS, and turbidity analysis
  6. Safe use of various types of chemicals.
  7. Record all data and results in specified forms or real time data collection platforms with accuracy and responsibility
  8. Participates in activities with the FSQA staff and operations management as necessary to ensure communication of testing results
  9. Maintaining cleanliness of equipment and lab space
  10. Analyzing and reporting data on projects/validation studies
  11. Maintaining FSQA Lab and Quality Department inventory
  12. Data entry
  13. Maintaining data for USDA review
  1. Provide documentation forHACCP, SSOP, and GMP.
  2. Read and follow company policies and procedures, as well as customer specifications.
  1. Work collectively with USDA and other department managers/supervisors as needed.
    Assist in providing backup and training new employees.
  1. Abilityto read and write legibly in English.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  1. Knowledge of Federal and State food industry regulations.
  2. Knowledge of regulatory and quality system requirements.
  3. Knowledge of compliance requirements for governmental agencies, including, but not limited to USDA, FSIS, FDA, NDEQ, OSHA, FDA, and DOT.
  4. Skill in reading, analyzing and conveying quality reports.
  5. Skill in using a computer and a variety of software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook.
  6. Skill in communicating in a professional manner, both verbally and in writing.
  7. Skill in managing multiple priorities
  8. Strong math skills
  9. Problem solver
  10. Detail oriented
  11. A demonstrated passion for food safety and quality.
  12. Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  13. Ability to build relationships

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's Degree in Biology or a related field preferred. Laboratory experience preferred.

Minimum of 1 year experience in a quality assurance role in the food manufacturing industry, including supervisory experience. Previous experience in the poultry industry preferred. Bilingual skills preferred.
