Poultry attendants are workers responsible for the daily care and management of birds such as chickens, turkeys, or ducks on farms or in production facilities. Their duties typically include feeding and watering the birds, cleaning enclosures, collecting eggs, monitoring animal health, and reporting any issues to supervisors. Poultry attendants play a key role in ensuring the well-being of the flock and the efficiency of poultry production operations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a poultry attendant, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Poultry Attendant, you need basic animal husbandry knowledge, attention to detail, and physical stamina, often supported by a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with automated feeding systems, temperature controls, and biosecurity protocols is typically required. Reliability, strong observation skills, and the ability to work independently are important soft skills for this role. These skills ensure healthy livestock, efficient farm operations, and compliance with safety and hygiene standards.

Poultry Attendants often encounter challenges such as maintaining strict biosecurity measures to prevent disease outbreaks, managing the physical demands of repetitive tasks, and ensuring consistent monitoring of animal health.
