Poultry workers are individuals who are employed in facilities that raise, process, or package poultry such as chickens, turkeys, or ducks. Their duties can include tasks like feeding and caring for birds, collecting eggs, cleaning cages or coops, operating processing equipment, and packaging poultry products. They play a crucial role in maintaining the health and welfare of poultry, ensuring food safety, and supporting the supply chain for poultry products. The job often involves physical labor and can require working in varying conditions, including cold environments in processing plants. Poultry workers must also follow strict hygiene and safety protocols to prevent the spread of disease.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a poultry worker?

To thrive as a Poultry Worker, you need basic animal handling skills, physical stamina, and attention to hygiene and safety standards, typically with a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with processing equipment, sanitization systems, and sometimes food safety certifications are commonly required. These skills and qualities are essential for maintaining animal welfare, ensuring food safety, and supporting efficient operations in poultry production environments.
