Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN)

Unit Information

The Labor and Delivery unit is equipped with 9 L&D beds and 4 postpartum beds. Triage beds are not available. The unit facilitates approximately 55 births monthly and primarily serves patients who are 34 weeks and above, with a focus on high-risk deliveries and individualized birth plans.

Qualifications
  • 2 years of experience in Labor and Delivery/Postpartum required
  • Experience circulating for C-sections is mandatory
  • Preference for candidates with travel experience
  • Required certifications: ACLS, Advanced Fetal Monitoring, BLS, NRP
  • COVID Vaccine required
Job Responsibilities

This role involves floating between Labor and Delivery and Postpartum, providing care according to AWHONN guidelines. The expected shift length is 12 hours from 6 PM to 6 AM, with a weekend requirement of every other weekend. The charge nurse position does not involve patient assignments.

Facilities and Support
  • One OB tech is available on day and night shifts
  • RT services are available 24/7
  • Pharmacy support is 24/7 with after-hours provision through Marian
  • Fetal Link is utilized for fetal heart monitoring
  • Cerner is the electronic medical record (EMR) system in use
  • Neonatologists are on-call
  • No IV team present
Orientation and Commitment

New hires will undergo a floor-specific orientation spanning three shifts. The unit has a cancellation policy allowing the hospital to cancel up to 4 shifts within a 13-week assignment and 3 shifts for shorter assignments.
