Job description

What makes TechnologyAdvice unique is the breadth of problems our teams solve. Our engineers work across content platforms, data products, AI-powered workflows, lead generation systems, revenue operations, analytics, and internal business tools. Rather than being confined to a single product area, engineers have the opportunity to create impact across nearly every part of the business.

Our Engineering Team builds and maintains the platforms, data pipelines, automation systems, and infrastructure that power the company. We believe exceptional engineers create value by solving business problems, not just writing code, and we empower our teams to work directly with stakeholders to identify opportunities and deliver solutions.

We are a lean, high-leverage engineering organization where individual engineers can have outsized influence on company outcomes. Unlike many engineering roles focused on a single product, you'll have the opportunity to work across content platforms, revenue systems, AI workflows, analytics, automation, and internal business tools.

We value ownership, execution, and business impact over years of experience. Exceptional candidates who consistently turn ideas into production systems and demonstrate extraordinary leverage through AI-assisted development are encouraged to apply.

The opportunity

We're seeking a Senior Product Engineer who uses AI as a core part of their engineering workflow. You'll leverage modern AI tools to accelerate software delivery while maintaining high standards for architecture, reliability, security, and maintainability. We believe exceptional engineers can create outsized business impact when empowered by modern AI tools, and we're building around that philosophy.

As an individual contributor on our distributed team, you'll independently identify opportunities, define solutions, and deliver systems from concept to production. You'll work across the full lifecycle of software development-including discovery, architecture, implementation, deployment, and ongoing iteration-while collaborating closely with engineers, business stakeholders, and operational teams throughout the organization.

Success in this role is measured by business impact, speed of execution, quality of solutions, and the ability to independently identify and deliver high-value opportunities. If you thrive in ambiguity, enjoy solving real business problems, and are excited by the idea of using AI to increase your engineering leverage, we'd love to talk.

The best candidates for this role are naturally curious, highly autonomous, and energized by identifying opportunities that others overlook.

Location: United States

What you'll do
  • Apply AI-assisted development practices to rapidly prototype, validate, and ship production-ready solutions
  • Identify opportunities across the business where software, automation, data, or AI can create meaningful operational, product, or revenue impact
  • Own solutions end-to-end-from discovery and scoping through architecture, implementation, deployment, measurement, and ongoing iteration
  • Collaborate directly with business stakeholders to understand problems, define solutions, communicate trade-offs, and measure outcomes
  • Design, build, and maintain full-stack applications, backend services, automations, and internal tools that drive business value
  • Contribute to architectural decisions, technical strategy, and long-term platform evolution
  • Work directly with cloud infrastructure and edge platforms, including AWS and Cloudflare
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and improve system reliability, observability, performance, and operational excellence
  • Conduct thoughtful code reviews, uphold high engineering standards, and mentor other engineers
  • Continuously evaluate new technologies, AI capabilities, and development practices that can increase team effectiveness and engineering leverage
Who you are

Product Ownership & Execution

  • Demonstrated ability to move from ambiguous business problems to deployed solutions, collaborating directly with stakeholders throughout discovery, delivery, and measurement
  • Proven track record of independently delivering complex software systems and business outcomes with minimal oversight
  • Strong judgment in evaluating build-vs-buy decisions and identifying opportunities to leverage existing platforms, automation, and AI before building custom solutions

AI-Native Engineering

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively leverage AI-assisted development tools in production environments while maintaining high standards for quality, security, performance, and maintainability
  • Strong systems thinking and architectural judgment to validate, refine, and extend AI-generated solutions

Technical Expertise

  • Experience building and maintaining production web applications
  • Comfortable working within modern application frameworks (e.g., Laravel or similar)
  • Experience designing and implementing experimentation and A/B testing frameworks (e.g., PostHog or similar tools)
  • Working knowledge of cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, Cloudflare, or similar platforms)
  • Solid experience with relational databases, including writing and optimizing queries both within and outside of ORMs
  • Proficiency with Git-based development workflows, code reviews, CI/CD pipelines, and automated deployment practices

Collaboration & Communication

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical stakeholders in a globally distributed organization
  • Self-driven, highly autonomous, and comfortable operating in a remote-first environment while managing priorities and consistently delivering results

Experience with PHP, Python, TypeScript, Laravel, Astro, AWS, Cloudflare, MySQL, Datadog, PostHog, LLM APIs, embeddings, RAG architectures, agent frameworks, infrastructure-as-code, containerization, or orchestration is helpful, but exact technology matches are not required. This role is best suited for someone who brings high ownership, strong product thinking, sound engineering judgment, and a practical approach to using AI to increase the quality and speed of their work.

Engineering Culture at TechnologyAdvice
  • We ship frequently - small, incremental changes deployed via GitOps
  • We embrace AI - we expect use of AI-powered tools (Cursor, Claude, ChatGPT) to accelerate development
  • We own our infrastructure - engineers are empowered to improve the systems they build
  • We optimize for outcomes - engineers are encouraged to identify opportunities, challenge assumptions, and solve business problems, not just complete tickets
What we offer you
  • Career Growth: Advance with mentorship programs, leadership academies, and opportunities to shape company culture and DEI initiatives.
  • Flex Fridays: Adjust your 40-hour week to enjoy a full or half day off on Fridays.
  • Remote-First Culture: Work from the comfort of your home.
