Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced IT Software Engineer 5 (Lead Backend Java Developer) to lead the design and development of enterprise-scale backend applications. This is a hands-on technical leadership role requiring deep expertise in Java 17+, Spring Boot, AWS, REST APIs, Scala, and DevOps. The ideal candidate will drive technical solutions, mentor globally distributed engineering teams, and deliver scalable cloud-native applications.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead the design, development, and delivery of backend applications using Java 17+ and Spring Boot.
• Design and develop scalable RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Build, deploy, test, and support cloud-native applications across the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Provide technical leadership to globally distributed development teams.
• Mentor engineers and promote engineering best practices, code quality, and DevOps culture.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or Jenkins.
• Build solutions using AWS services including API Gateway, Lambda, Fargate, S3, CloudFormation, CloudWatch, IAM, and ALB/NLB.
• Develop and support solutions using PostgreSQL and AWS DynamoDB.
• Participate in architecture discussions, technical design, code reviews, and production support.
• Collaborate with Product Owners, Architects, and cross-functional engineering teams in an Agile environment.
• Guide technical decisions and foster effective collaboration across distributed engineering teams.
• Balance hands-on application development with technical leadership and mentoring responsibilities.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 10+ years of backend Java development experience.
• 3+ years of experience leading geographically distributed engineering teams.
• Strong hands-on expertise in Java 17+.
• Strong experience with Spring Boot and REST API development.
• Hands-on experience with Scala.
• Strong experience developing cloud-native applications using AWS.
• Hands-on experience with AWS API Gateway, Lambda, Fargate, S3, CloudWatch, IAM, CloudFormation, and ALB/NLB.
• Strong DevOps experience using Azure DevOps or Jenkins.
• Experience with PostgreSQL and AWS DynamoDB.
• Strong understanding of microservices and enterprise application architectures.
• Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.
• Strong leadership, mentoring, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with globally distributed engineering teams.
