POSITION SPECIFICS
Postdoctoral Scholar position at The Pennsylvania State University
Dr. Feifei Shi is looking to hire a highly motivated Postdoctoral Scholar with expertise in electrochemistry and battery technologies to join her research team. The successful candidate will work on cutting-edge projects related to advanced battery systems, electrochemical energy storage, materials development, or interface characterization.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design and conduct experiments in electrochemical energy storage systems (e.g., Li-ion, Li metal batteries, beyond Li-ion batteries) and critical element extraction.
• Develop and characterize novel electrode materials, electrolytes, or battery architectures.
• Utilize advanced electrochemical techniques (e.g., CV, EIS, GITT, PITT) and materials characterization tools (XRD, SEM, TEM, XPS, etc.).
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and industry partners.
• Publish high-impact research in peer-reviewed journals and present findings at conferences.
Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field by start date.
• Strong background in electrochemistry, metallurgy, battery materials, or energy storage technologies.
• Hands-on experience with battery assembly/testing (coin cells, pouch cells), electrochemical methods, and materials characterization.
• Proficiency in data analysis and scientific writing (evidenced by publication record).
• Creative problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
Applicants should submit (1) a current curriculum vitae, (2) a detailed statement of research interests and experiences relevant to the required qualifications, and (3) a list of three professional references. The review of applications will start immediately and continue until the position is filled. This position is funded for one year from the date of hire, with the possibility of renewal based on funding availability and satisfactory performance.
