What are some common challenges faced by a postdoctoral fellow nurse when transitioning from clinical practice to research-focused roles?

Postdoctoral Fellow Nurses often encounter challenges shifting from direct patient care to research settings, such as adapting to more independent work, mastering advanced research methodologies, and balancing multiple projects with strict deadlines. Adjusting to a less structured environment and learning to collaborate with interdisciplinary research teams can also be an initial hurdle. However, these challenges are valuable opportunities for professional growth, expanding both research expertise and leadership skills within academic or healthcare institutions.

What is a postdoctoral fellow nurse?

A Postdoctoral Fellow Nurse is a registered nurse who has completed a doctoral degree, such as a PhD or DNP, and is engaged in advanced research or scholarly training after their doctorate. These fellowships allow nurses to deepen their expertise in a specialized area, contribute to research projects, and develop skills for academic or leadership roles. Postdoctoral fellow nurses often work in universities, research institutions, or healthcare organizations, collaborating on studies that advance nursing science and patient care.

The Goosens Laboratory, Center for Translational Medicine and Pharmacology

Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai

We are inviting applications for a first year Postdoctoral Research Fellowship position in translational biomedical science. The postdoctoral fellow will be mentored by Dr. Ki Goosens, Associate Professor of Medicine in Psychiatry and Pharmacological Sciences at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in Manhattan, New York, NY, USA.
