Minimum Education and Experience
A Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Molecular Biology, Genetics, or a related field.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
PhD in Neuroscience is required. Experience with in vivo imaging in head-fixed behaving mice is required. Experience with Arduino microcontrollers for the design and control of mouse behavioral paradigms is required. Extensive computer programming experience in python or Matlab and the ability to deal with large, complex datasets are required. Experience with preparation and writing of scientific manuscripts and grant applications is required. Experience with mentoring undergraduate students is required
Preferred Qualifications
Masters degree in Neuroscience is preferred in addition to the required PhD in neuroscience. Experience with fiber photometry and optogenetics experiments is preferred. Experience with GRIN lens imaging of the striatum is preferred. Fluency in Spanish is preferred for interaction with colleagues in Mexico, as part of an ongoing collaboration with scientists at the National University (UNAM) in Mexico City. Licenses in institutional animal care and use and biosafety are preferred.
Equipment Utilized
The candidate must be familiar with the operation of a two-photon laser-scanning microscope.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
The candidate must sit at a computer while performing microscopy experiments. The candidate must stand during most of the duration of performing behavioral experiments. The candidate must interact effectively with a personal computer for multiple hours per day.
