Merchandiser, Animal Nutrition - Fargo, ND or Minneapolis, MN
ADM - Wholesome Ingredients
Full-time, exempt position.  
Job Objective: The Merchandiser will be responsible for achieving financial results through the procurement and sales of specified ingredients while identifying and implementing programs to drive margin growth increasing top line sales and customer base. This position is part of the Wholesome Ingredients division with a focus in Animal Nutrition in the Wild Bird category.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Manage a portfolio of ingredients to support the ADM Wholesome Ingredients growth strategy.
  • Develop trading strategies to reduce risk of ingredient portfolio.
  • Coordinating and communicating rail, truck, vessel logistics, inventory positions, and forecasts.
  • Identify opportunities to increase ingredient offerings to fulfill customer needs.
  • Expand sales with existing customer base through call frequency while leveraging the breadth of portfolio.
  • Secure new customer base with strategic focus on the Wild Bird Food market segment.
  • Communicate effectively in building, and maintaining relationships with customers, colleagues, and other stakeholders within the industry.
  • Focus on margin enhancement and value add approach to ingredients and business development while maintaining ADM requirements on quality and safety.
  • Drive excellence in quality and customer service as key competitive differentiators.
  • Understand grower economics, processing capabilities and logistical infrastructure to develop a cost effective supply chain strategy.
  • Assimilation of supply and demand information, market trends and more, to communicate the process to the broader organization.

Job Specifications:
  • Minimum of five years of full-time professional experience in ingredient sales and procurement.
  • Extensive experience in all aspects of Customer and Supplier Relationship Management including the ability to present information effectively internally and externally.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the grain markets, hedging, commodity flows and logistics.
  • Continuous Improvement Mindset.
  • Highly skilled in problem solving techniques.
  • Knowledge of the agricultural industry's trading standards and procedures.
  • Strong work ethic, positive attitude and professional demeanor required.
  • Travel as needed to meet customers/suppliers and attend industry events up to 15%
