Advanced Practice Provider (NP or PA) - Outpatient Urology
Location: Roanoke, Virginia - Postal Drive
Carilion Clinic is seeking a dedicated Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join our outpatient Urology team at our Postal Drive location in Roanoke, Virginia. This is an excellent opportunity to practice in a collaborative, patient-focused environment while providing high-quality care to patients with a wide range of urologic conditions.
Position Summary
The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will provide comprehensive evaluation and management of patients in the outpatient Urology clinic. The APP will see a combination of new and established patients and work closely with physicians and the multidisciplinary care team to develop individualized treatment plans for patients with urologic conditions.
Schedule
  • Monday through Friday
  • 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
  • Outpatient clinic setting
  • No hospital rounding required

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and manage new and established patients in the outpatient Urology clinic.
  • Obtain comprehensive medical histories, perform physical examinations, and assess patient symptoms.
  • Develop treatment recommendations and management plans for a variety of urologic conditions.
  • Order, interpret, and communicate diagnostic testing and imaging results.
  • Provide patient education regarding diagnoses, treatment options, medications, and follow-up care.
  • Collaborate with urologists and other members of the healthcare team to deliver coordinated, high-quality patient care.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and support Carilion Clinic's commitment to exceptional patient care.

Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
  • Current Virginia licensure (or eligibility for licensure).
  • Current national certification as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
  • DEA registration (or ability to obtain).
  • Strong clinical assessment, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Previous urology or surgical specialty experience is preferred but not required.

What We Require:
Education: Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing and Nurse Practitioner Program or Accredited Physician Assistant Program.
Experience: Minimum of three 3 years of clinical experience preferred. Additional experience may be required for some specialties.
Licensure, certification, and/or registration: License or license eligible as an Advance Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant) as set forth by the state of Virginia. If Nurse Practitioner, license to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia is required. Eligible for prescriptive authority in accordance with State regulations and as authorized by the Virginia Boards of Nursing and Medicine.
Life Support: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required. Current PALS/NPR, as required, specific to position. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) as required, specific to position.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Must demonstrate and maintain all credentialing and licensing requirements of Carilion Clinic, the Virginia Board of Medicine or the Virginia Board of Nursing, and appropriate certifying bodies. Capable of meeting credentialing or job function requirements as needed based on the requirements of the practice and of managed care payors and insurers. Qualifies for malpractice insurance and is accepted by Carilion Clinic's malpractice insurance carrier. Able to work collaboratively with physicians and other health care providers. Demonstrates good written and oral communication skills. Computer literacy required for automated computer systems, including electronic medical records.

Compensation Range:
$107,993.60 - $172,785.60
Employee pay is based on a variety of factors, including qualifications, credentials, education, and prior work experience. The compensation range does not include benefits or pension plan.
