Lead the Future of Post Production at Mills James

Mills James is seeking an experienced Post Production Supervisor to lead a high-performing team of editors, visual effects artists, and audio engineers. This leadership role combines operational oversight, creative collaboration, financial accountability, and strategic planning to ensure exceptional post-production outcomes for a wide range of client projects.

Position Overview

The Post Production Supervisor provides strategic, operational, and financial leadership for all post-production activities. This role is responsible for ensuring efficient workflows, high-quality creative output, accurate project scoping, and on-time delivery while supporting long-term departmental growth and innovation.

The ideal candidate brings strong leadership skills, technical expertise in post-production operations, and the ability to align creative goals with business objectives in an evolving media production industry.

Key ResponsibilitiesTeam Leadership and Operations
  • Lead and supervise a postproduction team of approximately 18 employees, including editors, motion graphics artists, visual effects specialists, audio engineers, scheduling and freelance talent.
  • Partner with scheduling and operations support staff to coordinate daily assignments and project priorities.
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive work environment focused on accountability, creativity, and professional growth.
  • Mentor team members and support skill development, coaching, and performance improvement.
  • Workflow Management
  • Oversee all postproduction operations, including:
  • Media ingest, management, and archival processes
  • Spot distribution and final delivery o File conversion and technical workflows

  • Project setup and editorial pipeline management o Resource scheduling and utilization planning
  • Identify, recruit, hire and onboard editorial, motion graphics, and audio professionals
  • Develop and refine workflows to improve scalability, efficiency, and quality.
  • Identify production risks and implement solutions to avoid schedule disruptions or workflow bottlenecks.
  • Strategic Planning & Financial Oversight

  • Manage postproduction scheduling to balance staffing, deadlines, utilization, and profit margins.
  • Participate in project pricing, estimating, and budgeting for postproduction services.
  • Monitor department costs against estimates and provide reporting to leadership.
  • Support longterm planning for staffing, infrastructure, and process improvements.
  • Vendor & Talent Management
  • Negotiate and maintain relationships with external vendors and postproduction service providers.
  • Identify, recruit, and onboard freelance editorial, motion graphics, and audio professionals as project needs require.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, emerging technologies, and talent pipelines to strengthen department capabilities.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with creative, production, engineering, IT, and executive teams to: o Assess project scope and technical requirements
  • Build accurate timelines and budgets o Align creative expectations with operational capacity
  • Ensure all final deliverables meet internal quality standards and client expectations.

    Required
  • Requires 5+ years of leadership experience in postproduction, media production, or related creative operations
  • Strong knowledge of video editing, audio postproduction, media workflows, and delivery systems
  • Experience managing teams, freelancers, and outside vendors
  • Demonstrated success with budgeting, forecasting, and operational planning
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problemsolving skills
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a deadlinedriven environment
  • Preferred
  • Experience in commercial, corporate, broadcast, or agency production environments
  • Knowledge of current editing, motion graphics, and audio technologies
  • Experience identifying and implementing workflow automation or process improvements
  • Familiarity with evolving trends in AIassisted editing, postproduction technology, and media asset management
