Job Overview
Fairview is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join the Med/Surg Surgical unit at Southdale Hospital in Edina. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, caring for post-operative and acute medical patients. You'll be part of a skilled, patient-centered team committed to providing high-quality surgical care and continuous improvement.

About this Unit:
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to work in an acute care surgical unit? Then the 2nd Floor General Surgery Unit might be the right fit for you! This 30 bed unit focuses on caring for post-op general surgical patients and has a telemetry capability of 26. The General Surgery team cares for surgical patients, including Vascular, Bariatric, Thoracic, GI, Maxillofacial, Urology, and Gynecology. As with all units at Southdale, this team is committed to delivering high-quality care and excellent patient experiences.
Schedule: This position works 60 hours per pay period, 12 hour night shift (7pm-7:30am) with every third weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday).
The Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for all assigned patient population(s). The RN is responsible for performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act. The RN coordinates care with members of the health care team and delegates responsibilities to others as appropriate.
Responsibilities
  • Assesses patient needs and identifies expected nursing outcomes.
  • Collaborates with patient, family and other health team members to develop a nursing plan as part of an integrated, comprehensive plan of care
  • Develops an individualized plan based on age, social and cultural considerations, condition and other relevant needs.
  • Evaluates care and patient response to interventions and expected outcomes.
  • Collaborates and communicates effectively and respectfully with the patient, family and members of the health care team within and across care settings to promote partnership-based health care
  • Demonstrates the ability to advance care by utilizing standards, guidelines, care pathways and continuous improvement to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Promotes a culture of evidence based practice (EBP)
Required Qualifications
  • MN Registered Nurse (RN) License
  • Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree in Nursing
  • 1 year experience
