Job description

Job Overview
Fairview is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Pre & Post Op team at our Woodwinds Hospital in Woodbury, MN.

Schedule: This position will be working 56 hours every 2 weeks on the Day/Evening shift Monday through Friday. The schedule includes: 8 hour shifts, call requirements are above the FTE and you are required to work on average 6-7 call weekends per year and 1 holiday per year on call. Staff need to be within 30 minutes of the hospital to meet off premise call requirements.
About the Pre & Post OP at Woodwinds:
  • Woodwinds is a 86 bed hospital opened in 2000 locates on 30 acres of pristine wetlands in Woodbury MN.
  • It is the only hospital in the southeast metro area. Woodwinds provides convenient, comprehensive and quality health care for the community.
  • 7 OR Surgery Department, 20-25 cases per day, Patient age:18+
  • Patient Population: General Surgery, Orthopedics, Ortho Spine, Podiatry, OB/GYN, Plastics, ENT, and Ophthalmology

As a Pre & Post Op RN, you are responsible for:
  • Understanding and incorporating holistic nursing theory based on Watson's theory of caring aligning with the practice standards of the American Holistic Nurses Association and the Woodwinds nursing patient care model (Professional Partnership Model) in order to achieve the Woodwinds nursing vision.
  • Assessing patients and document patient condition according to Perioperative Policy and Standards.
  • Coordinating and communicating care with members of the health care team and delegates responsibilities to others as appropriate, collaborating teamwork..
  • Demonstrating ability to deliver care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served.
  • Evaluating care, adapting interventions and prioritizing care based on patient assessment, and uses resources to respond to emergency situations.
  • Some specific duties include pre-admission phone calls, admissions day of surgery, monitoring and continuously assessing patients following procedure until ready for transfer to the floor as well as Phase 2 care to include intensive patient education that assures readiness for discharge to home.
  • Critical care skills needed to include airway and hemodynamic management, pain management, and excellent assessment skills for patients in altered states of consciousness.
  • Cultivates a culture of improvement, efficiency and innovative thinking.
  • The RN is responsible for performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedure, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act

Required Qualifications:
  • One year recent RN PACU or Critical Care
    • May consider Acute Care experience
  • BLS through Health Care Providers upon hire
  • ACLS through American Heart Association upon hire
  • MN RN License

Preferred Qualifications:
  • BSN or Higher
  • PACU Experience
