About the role
Embark Consulting is seeking a proven financial and operational leader to join our Business Transformation practice as a Managing Director with a focus within the energy sector. This is a high-impact leadership role for a dynamic individual who thrives in complex, fast-paced environments and brings a unique combination of strategic insight, hands-on execution, and a people-first mindset.

What you'll be doing
  • Develop and execute business transformation strategies aligned with client goals and stakeholder expectations
  • Provide strategic advice to C-suite clients, acting as a trusted advisor across complex financial and operational challenges
  • Prepare and implement comprehensive business plans to facilitate execution and drive measurable results
  • Lead end-to-end integration efforts for M&A transactions, aligning teams, systems, and processes to achieve deal objectives
  • Develop and execute integration plans addressing people, processes, and technology to enable smooth transitions and synergies
  • Coordinate cross-functional workstreams, ensuring alignment across operations including accounting, finance, HR, IT, and other critical areas
  • Monitor and measure integration progress, identifying risks and opportunities and implementing mitigation strategies as needed
  • Facilitate stakeholder communication and engagement to maintain alignment and momentum throughout engagements
  • Build and maintain trust relationships with shareholders, business partners, and client leadership
  • Mentor and guide internal teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Provide performance feedback and delegate responsibilities to drive maximum team performance
  • Stay informed on market trends and best practices in M&A integration and energy sector transformation

What you'll bring
  • 12+ years of experience in Big 4/public accounting and/or the oil and gas industry (upstream strongly preferred)
  • Extensive experience in M&A integration, strategic operations, or organizational transformation
  • CPA or CPA candidate; accounting and finance background strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and accounting fundamentals, including chart of accounts setup (fixed assets, AR, and AP subledgers)
  • Strong project management expertise, including the ability to oversee large-scale, complex initiatives
  • Deep understanding of post-merger integration best practices, with a focus on delivering measurable results
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels, including C-suite executives
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to manage competing priorities and balance short-term wins with long-term goals
  • Strong computer skills, particularly Excel; proficiency in project management tools and methodologies
  • Keen attention to detail and a collaborative mindset that fosters alignment across diverse groups and cultures
  • High sense of urgency, strong initiative, and the ability to multi-task in fast-paced environments
  • This role requires travel to client sites as needed
