Job Description:
The Neurocognitive and Behavioral Development Laboratory (https://nbd-lab.wixsite.com/mysite) at the University of Florida is seeking a highly motivated and goal-oriented Postdoctoral Associate to lead two NIH-funded research projects focused on aging and dementia risk in middle-aged and older autistic adults.
These projects are housed in the Department of Applied Physiology and Kinesiology and are conducted in close collaboration with the UF Center for Autism and Related Disabilities (http://card.ufl.edu/), the UF Health Center for Autism and Neurodevelopment (https://autism.psychiatry.ufl.edu/), the UF Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) Human Imaging Core (https://www.ctsi.ufl.edu/research/laboratory-services/human-imaging-core/), and the Norman Fixel Institute for Neurological Diseases (https://fixel.ufhealth.org/). Together, these partnerships provide a rich, multidisciplinary research environment and strong clinical-translational training opportunities.
The Postdoctoral Associate will play a central role in these NIH-funded projects and will be expected to take intellectual leadership across multiple aspects of the research program.
Responsibilities
  • Publish scientific findings in peer-reviewed journals (expected 2-3 publications per year)
  • Support the PI in grant development and submission
  • Supervise graduate and undergraduate research activities related to human data acquisition, data quality control, data analysis, result interpretation, presentations, and manuscript preparation
  • Contribute to the development of new research studies, laboratory manuals, and standard operating procedures
  • Participate actively in lab meetings and collaborative research activities

Expected Salary:
Commensurate with experience and consistent with NIH guidelines
Minimum Requirements:
The candidate should have:
  • A Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Rehabilitation Science, Psychology, Kinesiology, or a closely related field
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-based research environment
  • Proficiency with at least one statistical software package and experience conducting quantitative analyses
  • Strong organizational skills and motivation to lead complex human-subjects research

Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Experience in one or more of the following areas is desirable:
    • Human biomechanics (e.g., motion capture, kinetics, EMG)
    • Human neuroimaging (e.g., T1-, T2-weighted MRI, diffusion-weighted imaging)
    • Programming experience (e.g., MATLAB or Python)
    • Demonstrated trajectory toward applying for an NIH K-award within two years of appointment
