Amentum, a global leader in advanced engineering, technical, and professional services serving the US government, allies, and critical infrastructure sectors, is seeking aPost Clerk OCN - Mail Services Lead Clerkto support a unique US Navy program on the island of Diego Garcia. The Post Clerk OCN - Mail Services Lead Clerk will be responsible for supporting the program with delivery of items, distribution of mail, supplies, and materials.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provides daily operational support for mil services operations, ensuring timely delivery, distribution, and handling of mail, supplies, material, packages and related items.
  • Oversees the receipt, processing, sorting, tracking, and distribution of incoming and outgoing mail, parcels, and deliveries in accordance with established standard operating procedures, safety guidelines, and security requirements.
  • Supervise mail services personnel responsible for mail collection, sorting, metering, scanning, and delivery activities to ensure accurate and efficient operations.
  • Provide guidance on the proper use of mail quipment, including postage meters, scales, barcode scanners, and other related systems.
  • Maintain knowledge of all Mail Services functions to train, mentor, and support staff in daily operations and procedures.
  • Address and resolve all employee concerns, operational challenges, and job related issues to maintain a productive work environment.
  • Promote teamwork and collaboration to ensure seamless delivery of Mail Services support across the organization.
  • Performs other job related duties as assigned that are consistent with the nature and level of the position.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must complete required training and obtain qualification in accordance with the Department of Defense (DoD) Postal Manual 4525.6-M, dated August 15, 2002, and applicable USPS Domestic Mail Manual (DMM) requirements prior to performing postal duties.
  • Knowledge and understanding of U.S. Postal Service operations, including postage metering equipment, mail processing procedures, domestic and international mailing requirements, and customs practices.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and effectively manage routine operational issues.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and protect customer privacy and sensitive information.
  • Previous experience handling cash and ability to maintain accountability for financial transactions.
  • Must be in possession of a valid passport and be able to travel internationally.
  • Passport must be valid for a minimum of one (1) year or more at the time of hiring.
  • Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain compliance throughout the duration of deployment
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift materials weighing up to 70 pounds for extended periods.
  • Must be available to work a fliexible schedule, including early mornings, daytime, and evening hours based on operational and flight schedules.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years experience in mail services, postal operations, or a related field.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
  • Performs other job related duties as assigned that are consistent with the nature and level of the position.
  • Employees must read, speak, and comprehend English to the extent that they can perform the contract requirements and comply with installation emergency procedures.

  • Passport must be valid for a minimum of one (1) year or more at the time of hiring.

  • Ability to obtain country-specific visas per the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide.

  • Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain compliance throughout the duration of deployment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferred experience working within the Military Postal Service or a U.S. Postal Office environment.
  • A valid driver's license to legally operate a motor vehicle. Valid country driver's license. and passport.
  • Country visa (as required in line with the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide).

Working Environment

This position is located on Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT), a remote overseas location supporting U.S. Government operations. Employees may work in office, industrial, warehouse, port, airfield, and outdoor environments and may be exposed to high temperatures, humidity, inclement weather, noise, dust, and uneven terrain. Work schedules may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on operational requirements.

Physical Requirements

Requirements may include prolonged sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, lifting up to 25 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally, and working in both indoor and outdoor environments. Must be able to meet all medical, security, and deployment requirements associated with assignment to a remote overseas location.
