The Opportunity

Based in WSP's Calgary office, you will be embedded in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment alongside designers, engineers, project managers, and technical specialists.

As a Civil CAD Technologist, you will apply your advanced design and drafting experience to deliver highquality technical drawings and design that support Subdivision, Development Site Servicing, and Transportation design package across urban and regional projects.


Your Impact

  • Develop detailed CAD drawings using Civil 3D and City of Calgary Design Standards for Civil Engineering, Municipal and Land Development projects.
  • Advanced Corridor and Grading experience based on City of Calgary design standards.
  • Prepare accurate plans for Surface grading, Underground utilities, Pond design, Stormwater Design, Block Profiles, etc. in Alberta municipalities.
  • Interpret engineering markups, design criteria, and standards to produce clear, constructible technical drawings.
  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, and project managers to integrate multidisciplinary inputs into coordinated design packages.
  • Apply City of Calgary standards, Alberta Transportation requirements, MMCD, and TAC guidelines to ensure codecompliant deliverables.
  • Support quality control processes, including drawing checks, revisions, and design updates throughout project lifecycles.

The Skills That Set You Apart

  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D (Vehicle Tracking considered an asset).
  • 8+ years of CAD drafting and design experience within transportation, electrical, municipal, or related infrastructure environments.
  • Working knowledge of City of Calgary design standards and specifications, municipal drafting standards, and Alberta transportation design practices.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and field data accurately.
  • Experience coordinating with multidisciplinary project teams on complex infrastructure projects.
  • Advanced understanding of Surface grading, Underground utilities, Pond design, Stormwater Design, Block Profiles, and City of Calgary design guidelines.
  • Ability to work independently with strong attention to detail, quality, and collaboration. As well as the ability to act as a team lead on larger scale projects with intermediate to junior level technicians working under you.

Compensation

AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $89,800 - $118,900
MB & ON: $81,900 - $112,800
NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $81,100 - $107,700
