Job description

For AI to truly connect with the Lusophone world, it needs more than just literal translation – it needs cultural and linguistic authenticity. As a Portuguese Language Expert, you will be instrumental in perfecting AI's understanding of both Brazilian and European Portuguese, ensuring its outputs are natural, accurate, and culturally resonant for millions of speakers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate AI-generated Portuguese content for grammatical precision, naturalness, and stylistic appropriateness.
  • Refine translations and text generation to accurately reflect regional nuances in both Brazilian and European Portuguese.
  • Provide expert feedback on AI's handling of verbal tenses, clitic pronouns, and complex sentence structures unique to Portuguese.
  • Evaluate linguistic data, focusing on idiomatic expressions, cultural references, and register variations.
  • Identify and correct errors in AI's understanding of orthography (post-Acordo Ortográfico), phonetics, and pragmatics.
  • Contribute examples of high-quality, authentic Portuguese usage to enhance AI training datasets.
Ideal Qualifications
  • Native or near-native fluency in Portuguese (C2 level CEFR), with expertise in either Brazilian or European Portuguese, or both.
  • Bachelor's degree in Linguistics, Translation, Portuguese Studies, or a related field is preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of Portuguese grammar, syntax, and regional lexical differences.
  • Proven experience in translation, localization, or content creation in Portuguese.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to provide constructive linguistic feedback.
  • Familiarity with linguistic evaluation tools or style guides is a plus.
