Rivian is on a mission to keep the world adventurous forever. This goes for the emissions‑free Electric Adventure Vehicles we build, and the curious, courageous souls we seek to attract.
As a company, we constantly challenge what’s possible, never simply accepting what has always been done. We reframe old problems, seek new solutions and operate comfortably in areas that are unknown. Our backgrounds are diverse, but our team shares a love of the outdoors and a desire to protect it for future generations.
Role SummaryManager, Operations, Workplace Facilities, you will be responsible for leading the onsite team and managing the daily operations across our East Coast Facilities portfolio, which spans dynamic corporate office environments and cutting‑edge Lab and R&D spaces. Reporting directly to the Director of Workplace & Commercial Operations, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring our workplaces operate seamlessly, sustainably, and safely, providing an inspiring environment that empowers our teams to innovate.
This role requires a strategic yet hands‑on leader who can seamlessly balance day‑to‑day facilities maintenance with long‑term space planning and forecasting. You will act as a key culture carrier and operational champion, fostering strong cross‑functional partnerships with IT, Security, EH&S, and Culinary teams, while driving continuous process improvements to elevate Rivian’s workplace experience.
THIS IS WHERE YOU’LL WORK:Department: Workplace Facilities Operations
Location: Plymouth, MI OR Atlanta, GA
Responsibilities- Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and develop the East Coast Workplace Operations teams, fostering a service‑oriented, high‑performance culture focused on operational excellence.
- Facility & Asset Maintenance: Partner with our Workplace Maintenance team to ensure the overall building operations and preventative maintenance, and repair programs for assigned East Coast properties to maximize asset life and minimize downtime.
- Automotive OEM & Lab Operations: Leverage expertise in Automotive OEM environments to oversee specialized lab and R&D facility operations, ensuring seamless support for technical teams and complex engineering workflows.
- Vendor & SLA Management: Manage third‑party vendor relationships, contracts, and service level agreements (SLAs) for janitorial and support services, ensuring high‑quality, cost‑effective execution.
- Performance Tracking: Maintain, track, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to ticket response times and operational efficiency.
- Space Planning & Forecasting: Oversee strategic space utilization, internal team moves, and headcount forecasting to optimize the footprint of both office and R&D environments.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with internal IT and Security teams to manage site access control, technology integrations, and day‑to‑day operational security.
- Culinary & Amenity Program Support: Collaborate with the Culinary team to ensure food service programs operate efficiently and continuously align with employee needs and experience standards.
- Capital Projects & Real Estate Alignment: Partner with internal Real Estate, Design, and Construction teams on site expansions, tenant improvements, and workplace design rollouts.
- Financial & Budgetary Oversight: Manage and track operational budgets, purchase requisitions, and equipment expenditures, identifying cost‑saving opportunities without compromising quality.
- Safety & Compliance: In partnership with the Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) and Workplace Maintenance teams, ensure compliance with all local safety regulations, building codes, and workplace safety standards to maintain a secure environment.
- Event Operations: Oversee the logistical planning, setup, and execution of All-Hands meetings, executive visits, and culture events.
- Process Optimization: Standardize and implement scalable standard operating procedures (SOPs) to streamline workplace workflows and improve building efficiency.

- Experience: 5-7 years of progressive experience in facilities management, workplace services, or corporate real estate operations.
- Leadership Capability: Proven experience managing, coaching, or leading direct reports or embedded vendor teams within a fast‑paced environment.
- Portfolio Versatility: Prior experience supporting multi‑use facilities, specifically blending corporate office space with technical R&D, laboratory, or manufacturing environments is highly preferred.
- Project Management Skills: Strong foundational project management experience, with a track record of driving workplace transitions, expansions, or operational processes from conception to completion.
- Analytical Problem Solving: Exceptional organizational and critical‑thinking skills, with the ability to leverage data to solve complex operational challenges and pivot quickly when priorities shift.
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced proficiency with Google Suite, Integrated Workplace Management Systems (IWMS), CMMS ticketing software, and modern space planning tools.
- Communication & Collaboration: Elite verbal and written communication skills; capable of managing sensitive stakeholder relationships and delivering clear updates to senior leadership.
- Core Attributes: A highly motivated self‑starter with a service‑oriented mindset, an energetic approach to problem‑solving, and strict attention to operational detail.
- Adaptability: Demonstrated flexibility to thrive in a dynamic, rapidly changing corporate landscape and the willingness to evolutionize practices that are not meeting desired business outcomes.
