Regional Operations Director
Position Information

Title: Regional Operations Director
Reports To: Chief Operating Officer
Position Type: Full-time
Salary: $160,000 - $200,000 plus annual discretionary bonus
FLSA Status: Exempt
Location: Remote with 50% or more travel to Partner Hospital locations. Preference will be given to candidates that reside in the Pacific time zone.


Position Summary

Veritas Veterinary Partners seeks an experienced and results-driven Regional Operations Director to oversee the operational performance of a portfolio of multi-specialty Partner Hospitals with $50–$100MM in revenue across a defined region. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, the Regional Operations Director serves as the primary operational leader for assigned hospitals, providing direct support and accountability to Hospital Directors and, where applicable, Hospital Managers.

This role is responsible for driving financial outcomes, operational consistency and people development across the region while advancing a culture aligned with Veritas Veterinary Partners values. The position requires significant travel and the ability to lead effectively across time zones and varied hospital environments.


Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesRegional Operational Oversight
  • Provide direct operational leadership and accountability to Hospital Directors and Hospital Managers across a portfolio of two to four Partner Hospitals.
  • Conduct regular site visits to assess operational performance, identify gaps and implement corrective strategies in partnership with hospital leadership teams.
  • Establish and monitor regional operational standards, workflows and performance benchmarks consistent with Veritas policies and best practices.
  • Serve as the escalation point for complex operational, clinical support and employee relations matters that exceed hospital-level resolution.
  • Lead regional operational planning, including scheduling of site visits, leadership meetings and cross-hospital initiatives.
  • Support onboarding and integration of acquired hospitals into Veritas operational standards as needed.
Financial Stewardship
  • Own regional P&L performance across all assigned hospitals, including revenue growth, expense management and EBITDA outcomes.
  • Partner with Hospital Directors to develop, monitor and manage annual operating budgets and capital expenditure requests.
  • Analyze financial reports, KPIs and trend data to identify opportunities, flag risks and drive performance improvement.
  • Hold hospital leadership accountable for financial targets, providing coaching and support to address variances.
  • Report regional financial performance to the Chief Operating Officer and collaborate on enterprise-level forecasting.
People Leadership and Development
  • Directly lead, develop and evaluate Hospital Directors and, where applicable, Hospital Managers within the regional portfolio.
  • Identify leadership development needs and work with Human Resources to build succession plans, training pathways and performance improvement strategies.
  • Drive associate engagement and retention across the region by modeling Veritas values and holding hospital leaders accountable for team culture outcomes.
  • Partner with Human Resources on complex employee relations matters, investigations and workforce planning.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings and performance reviews with direct reports to provide clear expectations, feedback and support.
Clinical Partnership and Quality
  • Collaborate with regional Medical Directors and hospital-level Medical Directors to ensure alignment between operational capacity and clinical delivery.
  • Support hospitals in maintaining compliance with AVMA, state veterinary board and accreditation standards applicable to specialty and emergency practice.
  • Partner with clinical leadership to address staffing, workflow and facility issues that affect patient care quality or team safety.
  • Monitor client experience data across the region and work with hospital leaders to implement service improvements.
Technology and Innovation
  • Champion adoption and effective utilization of practice management systems and operational technology across assigned hospitals.
  • Support hospital teams in integrating AI-assisted tools, including ambient documentation and clinical workflow technology, into daily operations.
  • Identify technology gaps and work with the enterprise technology team to implement solutions that improve efficiency and care delivery.

QualificationsRequired
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Management, Veterinary Practice Management or a related field, or equivalent professional experience in a multi-site veterinary or healthcare leadership role.
  • Minimum seven years of progressive leadership experience in veterinary medicine or multi-unit healthcare operations, with at least three years in a multi-site or regional director-level role.
  • Demonstrated P&L ownership and financial management experience across multiple locations.
  • Proven ability to lead, develop and hold accountable hospital or site-level directors and managers across a geographically distributed portfolio.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience using financial reports, operational KPIs and performance data to drive decisions.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to influence across all organizational levels.
  • Ability to travel 50% or more, including across multiple time zones.
Preferred
  • Experience in specialty and/or emergency veterinary medicine, including familiarity with 24-hour hospital operations.
  • Prior experience in a PE-backed, high-growth or multi-site veterinary consolidation environment.
  • Certified Veterinary Practice Manager (CVPM) designation or equivalent healthcare management credential.
  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration or a related field.
  • Familiarity with practice management software such as ezyVet, Impromed or AVImark.
  • Experience supporting post-acquisition integration of veterinary or healthcare practices.
  • Exposure to AI-assisted clinical or operational tools in a hospital or healthcare setting.

Work Environment

This is a remote position based from a home office with 50% or more travel required to Partner Hospital locations across the assigned region, which may span multiple time zones. Travel includes regular site visits, leadership meetings and enterprise events.

When on-site, the Regional Operations Director works in fast-paced specialty and emergency veterinary hospital environments and may be exposed to animal handling, medical equipment and clinical noise. Extended use of a computer for communication, reporting and virtual meetings is required. Occasional evening or weekend availability may be necessary to support operational needs or time-sensitive matters across the regional portfolio.

The position is bonus-eligible in accordance with the Veritas Veterinary Partners incentive compensation plan.
